Our method
Upper cervical care, in plain words
It looks at the top two vertebrae of the neck, where the head rests on the spine.
Upper cervical chiropractic works at the atlas and the axis, the two vertebrae at the top of the neck. At Spire the exam is the method: your doctor decides on an adjustment from what the exam finds, and for no other reason. Ask either doctor which upper cervical technique they use and where they trained.

The exam
What an exam involves
A talk first
Your history, what you want from care and anything you want us to know. Nothing is decided before this.
A seated check
How you sit, how your head rests on your neck and how your shoulders sit under it.
A hands-on check
How the top two vertebrae move, felt by your doctor, one side then the other.
Imaging, if needed
Only when it is medically necessary. Your doctor says why before it is taken, and you can decline.
What we found
Your doctor explains the findings and whether upper cervical care fits. You decide what happens next.
Plain limits
What the method does not claim
One method with a narrow job. Here is where it stops.
No promised results
Care affects people differently, and results vary. Your doctor tells you what the exam found, not what will happen.
No condition claims
We examine the upper neck and adjust it when the exam shows a reason. We make no claims about any disease or condition.
No stand-in for your physician
We tell you when to see a physician first, and we share findings with your other providers when you allow it.
Risks
What your doctor tells you before a neck adjustment
Soreness is common
Some people feel sore or tired for a day or two after an adjustment. Tell us if it lasts.
Rare serious problems
Rare serious problems, including injury to a blood vessel in the neck, have been reported after neck adjustments. Your doctor explains this before any neck adjustment, and you can say no.
When to stop and call
Sudden severe headache or neck pain, dizziness, trouble speaking or seeing, or new weakness or numbness after a visit needs emergency care now. Call 911.
